Tengo un vinilo de aquel primer disco que sacaron, eran un grupo del montón, la verdad… pero a veces todavía pincho algunas canciones.

Ni puta idea. Sólo recuerdo que fueron teloneros de U2 y por eso merecen ser lapidados. Además la media melenita del cantante me sacaba de quicio.

Bueno, ser telonero de U2 por aquella época (primeros 90) no era tan tan malo… Yo pienso que el Achtung Baby fue el último gran disco de ellos. Lo dice un ex-fan.

Hablando de teloneros, ¿conoces a Section 25? Fueron teloneros de Joy Division, apadrinados por Ian Curtis y producidos por Martin Hannett. Y todo eso se nota y mucho en su música. Si no los conoces, te gustarán.

Es que estaban programadas para el festival. Tocaban a la misma hora que pixies, y un amigo que las quería ver se quedó con las ganas porque unos días antes se anunció que se cayeron del cartel y de ahí ya no se supo más de ellas.

Alguien sabe qué fué de este grupo? yo tenía un disco hace mucho tiempo y la verdad que estaba bastante bien, pero no supe nada más de ellos…siguen haciendo giras, creo que fue el añopasado cuando tocaron en el Azkena, y en el 2002 se cayeron del cartel del Primavera.Pues ya se los podrían traer, los vi en el Azkena y disfruté como un enano, sería un puntazo para el PS la verdad.

Violent Femmes en el Azkena Rock 2004 fue uno de los mejores conciertos de todo el festival. Según mi opinión el mejor.
Impresionante y lleno de clásicos y hasta dejan caer algunas caras B.

trio de pop bostoniano (si esta etiqueta existe), sacaron 3 discos en la segunda mitad de los 90, del primero guardo especial buen recuerdo, es este:
está lleno de canciones bonitas, sencillas y frescas: TV Movies, My revolution, Smash this world, Possibilities... coño, me lo voy a poner

Sin duda no estaban nada mal esta gente. Les he perdido toda pista. Ni idea de que hacen ahora.

Hablando de teloneros, ¿conoces a Section 25? Fueron teloneros de Joy Division, apadrinados por Ian Curtis y producidos por Martin Hannett. Y todo eso se nota y mucho en su música. Si no los conoces, te gustarán.

Se separaron en 1995 después de editar un EP llamado Superman. No eran como apuntas impresionantes pero "An Emotional Fish" su disco de debut no está mal, sobretodo el single Celebrate, ambos del 1990.
Respecto a Section 25 no confundir con Section 5 tengo su disco The Key Of Dreams del 1982 que sin ser una maravilla y copiando bastante como hacen me apetece recuperarlo bastante.

Poco antes del cambio de pesetas a euros me compré un disco de Perfect Zebras del 1982 "Mixing With Wildlife"por 25 pesetas de nada y se que sacaron otro segundo álbum. ¿Alguién sabe q fue de ellos¿? otras bandas o algo. Eran bastante/suficientemente buenos como para saberlo
New Wave con toques de post punk.

Un grupo de cuatro chicas que sacaron un disco, también llamado "That Dog" (creo que en Setanta), de noise-pop con unas armonías vocales fantásticas, en el '93 si no recuerdo mal…

That Dog, si no me equivoco, estaba formado por dos de las hermanas Haden… una de ellas, Petra Haden, pasó por The Rentals (que se han reunido este 2005) y hará un par de años grabó Petra Haden Sings The Who Sell Out, una reescritura del clásico de The Who a capella, haciendo con su voz las guitarras batería todo, en plan Bobby McFerrin (este sí que es para preguntarse qué ha sido de él). Ahora toca el violín en Decemberists, y hace coros, que esta mujer lo que tiene es una cacho voz.

Según una de las enciclopedias de música que tengo, en concreto "The Great Indie Discograhy" afirma q That Dog se formaron en 1991 y como decías sacó el 1er disco homónimo en 1993 con reediciones en 1994 y 1998.

Recordar también que estaba Anna Waronker hija del productor Lenny Waronker( ese de algunos discos interesantes de garage de los 60ª, a Arlo Guthrie y folk y tb comerciales) y mujer de Steve McDonald de los Redd Kross (otro grupazo).
Ella hizo música para pelis, en solitario, Imperial Teen, …

Lo de Petra Haden no lo sabía q tocó que formó parte de that dog. Eso que el disco de revisión de "The Who Sell Out" es muy recomedable. y lo de Decemberists tampoco tenía idea, madre mía.
Sobre Bobby McFerrin no lo conozco, podrías si quieres/puedes recomendar algo como punto de partida?¿ Nunca le he escuchado.

Y no puedo recomendarte nada porque aparte de ese jit de mi juventud no conozco nada suyo. Y no me voy a poner a rajar de él porque seguro que me salta alguien diciendo que el tío este es un señor del jazz y que tiene un credo musical que ni Brian Eno.

Qué fue de Wipers? Me he acordado de ellos porque salen en portada de Allmusic esta semana. Ahora mismo estoy escuchando el Box Set con sus tres primeros discos y es la puta polla, una maravilla que se merienda a medio underground americano. Sé que la banda de Portland publicó algunos discos en los 90 (que no he catado) y Greg Sage también tiene algunos álbumes en solitario más recientes. Que yo sepa Wipers no han llegado nunca a separarse… En fin, a ver si me alumbra alguien.

Prosecutor Nguyen Van Xung told AP the money would have no bearing on whether the case goes to trial but that "the court may consider it as one factor to lessen the sentence".

But Stephen Jakobi from campaign group Fair Trials Abroad described the Glitter payments as "shameful".

If found guilty of child molestation, Glitter - whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd - faces up to 12 years in jail.

BBC correspondent Tony Cheng said that, without the co-operation of the two girls, aged 11 and 12, who initiated the arrest, it was unclear what evidence the Vietnamese authorities could rely on.

Glitter denies allegations that he molested the girls at his home in the resort of Vung Tau, where he has lived for the last six months.

He was arrested at Ho Chi Minh City airport on 19 November as he tried to leave Vietnam for Thailand.

His detention was extended by four months at the start of December while the claims were investigated.

But the singer still faces the the charge of committing lewd acts with children, Le Thanh Kinh told the BBC.

Glitter, 61, faces up to 12 years in jail if found guilty.

The fallen idol, real name Paul Gadd, is being held in Vietnam under suspicion of committing lewd acts with children. He has not yet been charged.

He denies allegations that he molested girls as young as 12 at his home in the resort of Vung Tau, where he has lived for the last six months.

"The [child rape] investigation has ended and the charge will still be the initial one, while additional issues were not raised by investigators, probably because of a lack of evidence," Glitter's lawyer said.

Glitter, jailed for four months in the UK in 1999 for possessing child pornography, could have faced the death penalty if he had been convicted on the charge of having sex with a girl under the age of 13.

An announcement will be made by prosecutors about whether Glitter will be tried on the charge of committing lewd acts with children.

Glitter was arrested at Ho Chi Minh City airport on 19 November as he tried to leave Vietnam for Thailand.

PHNOM PENH (AFP) - Disgraced 1970s rock star Gary Glitter, who was convicted on child pornography charges in Britain, has returned to Cambodia and bought property, minister of women's affairs Mu Sochua revealed.

Mu Sochua said Friday she did not know how the glam rock icon, real name Paul Gadd, had managed to get back into the country after being kicked out twice, most recently in October, and barred from re-entering.

"He has a house, he has bought property and local authorities have confirmed to us that he has said he wants to stay in Cambodia quietly," Mu Sochua told AFP, adding that he apparently returned just weeks after his last expulsion.

"What I am saying is that with his past record, I don't think he should."

The minister said she was concerned about the message Glitter's presence sends out about Cambodia, which has a reputation as a centre for sex tourism.

She feared he may be allowed to stay until a complaint is heard against his original expulsion in 2002.

"The role of the police now that he is here is to provide security… This is not an accusation of him committing any crime here, but I am asking the ministry of interior why he has been given the right to stay," she said.

A senior ministry official told AFP that he was aware Glitter was back but he had committed no crime. He said the ministry would take action against him if they received orders from the government.

"Nobody has told us what to do with him now he is back. We are waiting for orders, if there are any. He has committed no crime here," he said.

Immigration police declined to comment.

Glitter's previous visits to the kingdom, which battles to cope with foreign sex tourists who prey on its children, caused a furore among women's and children's rights activists who called for him to be expelled.

In 1999 Glitter was convicted for possessing 4,000 hardcore pornographic photos of boys and girls aged between two and 10, for which he was sentenced to four months in jail.

Minister Mu Sochua said Glitter had purchased a house in Ta Khmao, a well-heeled suburb on the outskirts of the capital.

Cambodia has earned a reputation as a haven for paedophiles due to lax law enforcement, corruption in the courts and the easy availability of young boys and girls who are forced into prostitution by poverty.

HANOI, Vietnam - Former British rocker Gary Glitter admitted to police that an 11-year-old girl slept in his bed, but denied sexually abusing her, his attorney said Thursday.

During interrogations by police, Glitter said he allowed the girl to sleep in his bed after she claimed she was afraid of ghosts, attorney Le Thanh Kinh told The Associated Press.

Glitter, 61, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, is being held in Phuoc Co prison outside coastal Vung Tau city on suspicion of engaging in obscene acts with a child — a charge punishable by up to 12 years in prison.

He is being held amid allegations of having sex with several underage girls, including an 11-year-old and 12-year-old, at his rented seaside home in Vung Tau. He has denied all allegations and has not been formally charged.

Glitter won fame as a flamboyant “glam” rocker in the 1970s. He is perhaps best known for “Rock and Roll (Part 2),” still often played at sporting events to rev up crowds with its pulsing “Hey” chorus.

He was convicted in Britain in 1999 of possessing child pornography and served half of a four-month jail term. He later went to Cambodia and was permanently expelled in 2002, but Cambodian officials did not specify any crime or file charges. He’s been in custody since Nov. 19 when he was seized while trying to board a flight to Bangkok from Ho Chi Minh City.

During questioning by police, Glitter “answered that when this girl (and her aunt) came to his house, he put them in the guest room. But in the middle of night, they said they were very afraid of ghosts and they cannot sleep. So they came to his room and slept there,” Kinh said, adding that he was present during the interrogation.

On another occasion, Glitter told them they could not sleep with him, but “the girls explained to him that in Vietnamese families, the father, the mother and the children sleep in one bed,” Kinh told the AP.

Glitter also told police he went swimming with several girls in his outdoor pool, but denied inappropriate behavior, his attorney said.

“He said he thinks they are like his grandchildren,” Kinh said.

Police have interviewed six females, from 11 to 23 years of age, who alleged they had sex with Glitter.

Vietnam’s penalties for sexual contact with a juvenile vary depending on the charge. The maximum punishment for child rape is death by firing squad, and police have said sex with a child under 13 is considered rape.

Once the investigation is concluded, police officials will recommend to prosecutors what to charge Glitter with in court.**
