Estoy escuchando el disco de Frank Ocean por segunda vez. Me está gustando, aunque así de buenas a primeras la review de Pitchfork me parece un truño importante si se trataba de describir su disco (o casi) del año.

Concept

The green dress which appears on the album's cover is the wedding dress worn by Kelis, Nas' ex-wife and fellow-musician, by whom he has a son. It was the only thing she had left in their house after her divorce with Nas, which had bothered him. Nas has stated the the album is "important" to him and has a more lighthearted feel to it, showing the transition from his old life to his new one. Nas told The Guardian: "I found [the dress] in my house and thought, 'It's going somewhere'. Either on the cover of my album, or burning in a garbage can. I was angry when I first found it. Hurt and angry - but I don't think she left it deliberately to hurt me. It's just part of the dress, so I don't know where the rest of it is. But it made all the sense in the world for me to hold on to that. I guess that's just my personality." Nas has compared the album to Marvin Gaye's classic Here, My Dear, which is famous for chronicling Gaye's first marriage to Anna Gordy.

Hablando de recapitular un poco lo que llevamos de año, el Mysterious Phonk de Spaceghostpurrp está ganando enteros en mi balanza. Tiene muy mala leche y está bastante más bien calibrado que sus anteriores intentos. Las letras pueden flojear en algún momento (no tiene ni la profunidad de Kendrick, ni el ingenio de ASAP Rocky) pero quedan bastante bien empaquetadas con el entorno sonoro.

el disco tiene parte que es lo mejor que ha hecho Nas desde … buf, te diría casi que desde It Was Written, con él inspiradísimo y la música acompañando en vez de ser un lastre (milagro!). pero es que la otra mitad deambula entre el aburrimiento, el sinsentido y, lo peor, algunas ñoñerías y horteradas que son para mandarle al arrozal de cabeza, algo que por desgracia ya se había convertido en habitual.

es un buen disco, para variar demasiado largo, pero irregular y a mi no me parece superior a Untitled, que ya mejoraba bastante toda la morralla que, quitando quizá parte de God's Son, habían sido todos sus discos en general desde el segundo.

pero chico, a Pitchfork le ha encantado, y bueno, yatúsabes....

Que queréis que os diga, creo que le exigís demasiado a Nas. Nunca sacará un disco tan bueno como Illmatic, eso no es posible, pero incluso el Nastradamus, del que mucha gente rajó en su momento, me parece un buen disco. Este último me parece más que bueno con algún tema bastante mierdero, para que negarlo, pero un par de parrafos de rimas de Nas valen más la pena que la mitad de discos del género que se publican cada año.

a la espera de ver que nos tiene preparados el amigo kendrick lamar para octubre.
podría decir que este es el primer año que estoy siguiendo el género en mayor produndidad y estoy recogiendo
más pepinos que en cualquier otro género. esto es normal? quiero decir, os parece que la cosecha de este año
está siendo más rica que la de temporadas anteriores?
