      Deerhoof - Offend Maggie [2008/ATP/Kill Rock Stars]

      @30ma46r5:

      "Perhaps the most critically-acclaimed art-rock band of this decade, Deerhoof continue their amazing musical evolution on their new album "Offend Maggie". Featuring new guitarist Ed Rodriquez, the album is a more streamlined affair than the maximalism of 'Friend Opportunity', the songs grooving and loose in the vein of 'Apple O' or 'Reveille'. The band continues to press forward, with Satomi's fractured lyrics matching the band's kaleidoscopic take on post-millennial pop music."

        Habéis comentado algo del refrito del "Isn't Anything"? Es que he escuchado un par y… bueno, que la verdad es que no sé cuánto dinero se habrán gastado para remasterizarlo pero no le veo mucha lógica, o eso o quizá mi oído esté algo artrítico :lol:

                Koufax – Strugglers

                http://www.mediafire.com/?jjkwtqymwjn

                @2zhy3lqy:

                Simply put, Koufax’s Strugglers is “indie pop for the Police-State Generation.” The words indie pop and police-state may sound like they don’t belong in the same sentence. Just listen to the album, though, and it’ll make sense.

                  asva - what you don't know is frontier

                  Southern Records

                  4 tracks 69 minutes. A lyricless album of immense personal meaning to its creator. Cathartic doom at its most breathtakingly beautiful. A rare treat.

                  @1cwfc9ts:

                  Helmed by Stuart Dahlquist, formerly of Burning Witch, Goatsnake and Sunn0))), and recorded with the cream of the Pacific North West's rich musical talent, including members of Burning Witch, Mr. Bungle and Earth. This is a lyricless album of immense personal meaning to its creator, giving a very real sense of catharsis for both listener and performers alike. But there's also real hope and resolution at its core.

                  “Like Carl Orff covering Winter It reminds me of the first time I heard Mozart’s Requiem, or Gould’s Goldberg Variations. The music has a punishing sort of beauty, an inflicted aesthetics that hands the hearer no choice. “
                  —Stewart Voegtlin (Oaken Throne zine)

                  “What You Don't Know Is Frontier is about rebirth… about that light at the end of the tunnel. Amen.”

                                            Looking Into It, the third full-length from Portland's All Girl Summer Fun Band, makes me miss the 1990s. I miss that era of unabashedly rocking women. I miss being inspired by those who banded together with other girls to prove that shrieking or shredding wasn't just the provenance of those with a Y chromosome. Mostly I miss that time when it felt like you didn't have to choose between being girly or gutteral, cutesy or combative. Don't get me wrong, it's not that those of the so-called gentler sex aren't making music anymore, it's that, primarily, they are doing so as melismatic divas, sex-kitten pop stars, solo folk artists, or frontwomen in a boys-club band– all of which is fine, but nothing beats seeing a bunch of chicks with scruffy guitars, primitive beats, and catchy-as-all-hell melodies throttle through three-minute ditties without worrying about being lady-like, seductive, or serious. And with their new disc, All Girl Summer Fun Band have made me forget how long it's been since I'd heard such an act.

                                            Though it has been five years since their last outing, AGSFB haven't changed much (save the loss of one member), which is strangely comforting. The now-trio-- the Thermals' Kathy Foster, former Softie Jen Sbragia, and Kim Baxter, who recorded and engineered this album-- is a musical democracy with each member contributing vocals, pitching in with the songwriting, and switching off instruments. Looking Into It isn't doing anything new-- it's another round of sugary girl-group harmonies layered over fuzzy punk basslines and lo-fi guitar riffs-- but its insistent, often cuddly pop is more sophisticated than these Girls' previous offerings. "Woo"-heavy album opener "Not the One for Me" sounds like the infectiously sweet and sassy songs by the faux band in the movie Josie and the Pussycats (that's no dis; Babyface wrote those!). And tracks like "Trajectory" and "Oh No" blend 1960s bubblegum melodies with delightfully sloppy do-it-yourself execution, adding edge to their sweetness while bleeding their punk influences of anything remotely aggressive.

                                            Es un poco de pop punk. Pelukas puede que te guste que está una de los Thermals

                                            Dark Captain Light Captain made their recording debut as collaborators on Milenasong's Seven Sisters album. This debut single gives strong indications that they've plenty to offer the great listening public in their own right, 'Jealous Enemies' is probably the sort of thing that would get them lumped into the same sort of folkish bracket as someone like Tunng, but that would be a mistake: they are far more interesting than any of those nu-folk tags might suggest, gravitating around a guitar riff you could imagine Radiohead cobbling together for a B-side, and even sounding a bit like Elliott Smith in its presentation. On the flipside 'Mid-Session Interval' lacks the immediacy of its partner, but still has plenty of plus points, including a bit of subtle electronic intervention and Rhodes melodies.

                                            Que aproveche!!!
