      Fabio Orsi - Audio For Lovers 2xCD

      @35sxtn58:

      Fabio Orsi (collaborator on last year's 'Wildflower's under the sofa') returns with a double disc effort that is at once a highly satisfying 2 hour entry in the ambient genre. Although LVD's catalog often leans toward noiser, less melodic works, Audio for lovers shows both the same modernistic and minimal sensibilities that we've heard from Fabio in the past, while also drawing on the earlier, atmospheric work by Eno, which is to say that the album does precisely what most of us would like out of an ambient work. The tracks are highly melodic and memorable, the nature of the music is experimental enough (at least in theory) that I think a lot of fans of the label will enjoy it, and most importantly, the environments created here will please just about everyone–this might even be the LVD release to please your non-LVD listening acquaintances. Purchase the soundtrack to your new life today!

      Paul Metzger - Gedanken Splitter (Roaratorio, 2008)

      @35sxtn58:

      Paul Metzger continues to pile up the plaudits from critics and peers alike for his virtuosic string-slinging, gaining notice through his CD on Chairkickers and his split LP with Ben Chasny and Chris Corsano on Roaratorio. Metzger’s modified banjo is tricked out with additional sympathetic raga strings, although the compositions on Gedanken Splitter are informed by much more than Eastern drone music alone. Recorded in the same period as 2007’s Deliverance on Locust Music, this is a more jagged and aggressive (although no less accessible) affair. Metzger winds these improvisations around thornier threads than on his previous releases, and while never turning completely abstract, Gedanken Splitter moves even further away from anything resembling typical banjo fare. This is mesmerizing and singular playing.

                  Uzi & Ari - Headworms

                  @xwtn3m9h:

                  Ben Shepard is one of those artists that cannot help but create. Although on the road Uzi & Ari plays as a full complement of musicians in order to capture the complex and beautiful sounds that populate its recorded efforts, it is unambiguously the work of its
                  originator, Shepard, who has an urgent muse.

                  There is something hiding under the bed in Uzi & Ari’s new record, “Headworms.” Behind each syncopated rhythm and skittering string is the sense that something has been uprooted, that knotty boards have been plied apart and secrets exposed to the light. The album is a
                  pregnant pause in a conversation with the gods, and never has introspection been such cause for dance. Uzi & Ari have always had their hands poised over the primal tom tom frenetic with energy, and in “Headworms” they’re beating it wildly. From the first anxious strums of the autoharp in Missoula to the final symphonic fade-out of Paper Cuts, the band has the listener monastically supplicating on our knees, wearing headphones and a heavy cassock, wringing his hands and tapping his feet. The language employed measures its step carefully with the music, and these two partners take turns leading, weaving in and out of powerful imagery both aural and verbal.

                    Me encanta Uzi & Ari, de hecho estoy esperando que me llegue el vinilo por la puerta de casa. Comentar que la publicación del vinilo se pudo llevar a cabo gracias a las donaciones de interesados (como este menda) que donaron el valor del disco allá por Febrero/Marzo y que ahora ven recompensado el esfuerzo. Su sello no podía permitirse los costes de fabricación del vinilo, por lo que el grupo tuvo una ocurrente iniciativa que llegó a buen puerto.
                    Por cierto, tienen gira Europea en Febrero/Marzo… nadie se anima a traerlos?

                      Helios– Caesura [2008]

                      @2m5v7xpj:

                      YOU NEED THIS — A MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED UNDER THE SKIN EPIC ***** When me and my wife first met with Keith Kenniff it was on the road on tour with Khonnor in 2004. He was a shimmering humble star, a person that had a sparkle in his eyes, which has been shining through with all the music he pours through. After listening to his music, as Helios and Goldmund over four years time, we are again proud and happy to be able to offer his astounding moody compositions for all of you. Get this. He is a star.

                      This is Keith Kenniff’s fifth gorgeous release. In five years Keith’s style has evolved constantly, with his drifting piano compositions taking the Goldmund label and the Helios sound moving out from undreneath the clipped beat-heavy electronics of ‘Unomia’ and into a more unique place, even incorporating vocals on the ‘Ayres’ mini album. ‘Caesura’ however is his ‘proper’ follow-up to the acclaimed ‘Eingya’, and sees Keith return to the instrumental sound he knows so well. In fact in many ways ‘Caesura’ is a more electronic work than its predecessors, blending layer upon layer of synthesizer and adding his assured drumming to come up with the perfect meeting of indie-pop and ambient music. The haunting cinematic element is still present of course, but these songs are more rounded and confident than any in Keith’s career.

                      From the delicate bliss of ‘Hope Valley Hill’ which opens up the album with gauzy nostalgia and, as the title promised, hope, through the chunky pop of ‘Come With Nothings’ it is clear that Keith’s music is as arresting as it ever was. Taking cues from the lilting indie-electronics of Ulrich Schnauss and the unfussy ambience of Brian Eno, Keith manages to inject this with his knowledge as a composer. The epic harmonies of ‘Backlight’ for instance reveal a lightness of touch rarely heard in the genre with sweeping synthesized chords buzzing alongside Keith’s signature guitar.

                      Accompanied by more gorgeous artwork from Matthew Woodson, ‘Caesura’ is a glowing record for the winter months, and a glimmer of hope to keep the seasons at bay.

                          @2wxt51ra:

                          Rio en Medio is composed of songwriter/producer Danielle Stech-Homsy and a continuously evolving cast of friends and guest artists. Aligning herself with visual art, film and literature as much as music, Danielle’s primary influences are the textures, sounds and patterns found in nature, the human voice, the sacred, childhood, dreams, language, chance and divination.

                          Danielle’s new album, Frontier, (Manimal Vinyl) was written and recorded at home in the wintery isolation of Northern New Mexico, where Danielle now resides. Written first as a series of interrelated poems, then later set to music, the album unfolds as a sort of constellation of tales, inviting a narrative reading but perhaps without all the lines drawn in. What results is a wildly imaginative journey into the cosmos, where concepts are reduced to light and matter and Mystery. Lifting the mythology of space exploration and the conquering of the wild, western forests, and aided by Danielle’s intricate collage style and a remarkable host of synthesizers, the featured instrument is still Danielle’s crystalline voice and the careful way she uses it to serve the magic of the song. Frontier is scheduled for release in October on Manimal Vinyl. It will be available on vinyl and on itunes. Two singles, “Heartless” and “Fall Up” are currently available for purchase on itunes.

                                          Lo de Helios consiste en hacer las portadas más bonitas de la historia de la música electrónica o que…?? Joder... ya van 3!!

                                          Seguro que el disco también de pasote...

                                          thank you so much!!!!!

                                            el de helios es bonito, una pena que no explote su voz como en su anterior disco, no en todas las canciones, pero hubiera estado bien "algo", el chico es timidillo y lo pasa mal en los directos…

                                            La portada es perfecta para describir lo que hay dentro, es más hoy me aislado del mundo con el disco mientras viajando en tren y divagaba mirando por la ventana. Perfecto hilo musical para nostálgicos pero tmb para soñadores
