Juanita y Los Feos "Despacho Oval"
"La banda madrileña de garaje punk Juanita y Los Feos publica un nuevo 7″, más de un año después de la edición del último, ‘Angelines‘. Se llama ‘Despacho Oval’, lo saca el sello Discos Humeantes y puede descargarse gratuitamente a través de Bandcamp. Contiene dos nuevos pepinos muy en el estilo de la banda, con estribillos pegadizos al máximo tanto en el ambiguo tema titular, que juega con la idea de maquinar oscuros planes desde, efectivamente, despachos ovales; como ‘El Twist’, mucho más claro: “¿por qué bailar el mambo si podríamos bailar el twist?"

ha sido leer dream pop y bajarme el de la yohuna. Las primeras escuchas en el bandcamp hacen que mi cerebro secrete torrentes de dopamina en mi nucleo accumbens

Sonido Alfredo "Sonido Alfredo"En 2008 se estrenan con "Sonío Fredo" álbum muy heterogéneo, que alterna temas instrumentales y cantados, con predominio de una base “sixties” bien batida por fuertes oleajes punk y new wave, pronto pasa a ser un objeto de culto del que ya no quedan existencias, Tres años después vuelven con diez nuevas canciones y en este segundo trabajo avanzan en su conflicto mongol vs. world dejando para la posteridad porciones de simple y contundente rocanrol, en directo, sincero, crudo, sin envase, sin colorantes ni conservantes, pero con mucho picante.

Jane Weaver / Demdike Stare / The Focus Group - The Watchbird Alluminate (Bird, 2011)

Demdike Stare, The Focus Group, Anworth Kirk, Susan Christie and Samandtheplants, among others, rework songs from Jane Weaver's 'Fallen By The Watch Bird' from the Finders Keepers affiliated Bird imprint. Taking influences from Eastern European children's cinema, Germanic kunstmärchen, 70s television music and early murmurs of 80s synth-pop, the album is described by the label as a "new conceptual pop project featuring cosmic aquatic folklore" - and the source material is here handed over to a suitably cosmic cast of characters. Demdike Stare open proceedings with their first ever remix - an extended and engrossing revision of 'Europium Alluminate', shapeshifting Jane's vocals into a sustained breath of glooming haar rolling down over pulsing bass and submerged, mechanical rhythms sounding like the echos of overworked mill machinery. Working in the background of Susan Christie's recital of poetry by Michael Hill, Focus Group give 'A Circle And A Star Part 1' a droning backdrop, while Anworth Kirk unfurl a tenderly psyched collage of folksy detritus, fuzzed guitar and languorous drums for 'Noctilumina'. With Emma Tricca, Wendy FLower, Magpahi and Susan Christie all making further contributions, the album runs like a slightly smudged fairytale, replicating the sense of wonder portrayed on that suitably ethereal cover image.
