Following an extended hiatus, during which lead singer Alexander Hewett spent time as a touring musician for Connan Mockasin and Charlotte Gainsbourg, Egyptian Hip Hop return triumphant with their debut album on R&S Records. ‘GOOD DONT SLEEP’ is a promise kept and worth every shred of wondering. The self-conscious naivety of their early recordings has dissipated, making way for a mature musicality that is invigoratingly sensual. Dancing with summer pollen and possibility, Yoro Diallo and SYH hum with the polyrhythmic intensity of ‘Remain In Light’-era Talking Heads. Spiraling sideways like a honey-drunk bumblebee, Pearl Sound and One Eyed King take a detour into the eeriness of Silver Apples. On another plane, The White Falls traces a dream from its delicate distant stirring to full crystalline crescendo. The album’s crowning glory, however, is closer lltoise, a gossamer-spun composition that scales Tangerine Dream heights and evokes the sheer joy of waiting to fall.

Gracias al que colgó el recopilatorio de los Go betweens, está de putisima madre. Además, sonidazo. Es una mis bandas de pop favoritas. El Bright yellow bright orange no ha dejado de sonar en mi reproductor desde hace años, normalmente por estas fechas, porque como que es una música muy otoñal, no! A ver si viene Robert Foster por aquí alguna vez.

This is the reunited Guided By Voices' third album of 2012, in case you had lost count. Many bands struggle to release three albums in their career, never mind three in one year. It would be one thing if these were tossed off lo-fi affairs of the sort one might expect from the fellows who made the defining records of that so-called genre, Bee Thousand (1994) and Alien Lanes (1995). While the debut from the reunited "classic" line-up, Let's Go Eat The Factory, contained it's share of basement gems, both that record and its follow-up Class Clown Spots A UFO are notable more for the preponderance of properly recorded rock, a testament to the years bandleader Robert Pollard has spent refining both his songwriting and his approach to recording.

Much like the Peel Sessions from the early years of punk rock the Complete Control Sessions is recording series that aims feature some of the best bands out there doing what they do best: rocking live. samiam's session is the 5th in the series.

After their first full length album on Shrimper Records, a demos e.p. on New Images and scores of singles on U.S. and international record labels, The Babies second album “Our House on the Hill” is their Woodsist Records debut and the first with new bassist, Brian Schleyer.
While the band was originally conceived as a side-project outlet for Kevin Morby (Woods) and Cassie Ramone (Vivian Girls) – along with drummer Justin Sullivan – to trade song ideas and play house parties, 2011 saw the project grow into a full time affair. The band spent much of the year touring the U.S. and abroad, all the while writing new material, both in their home of Brooklyn and during a two-month sojourn in Los Angeles.
