Single of the week. This is a beauty. Recalling Labradford & Manual, you get some quality drifting escapism on this highly limited CDr on Misplaced Music. Even spots of Yellow 6 but much less constrained by a style than that. Simple, understated beats, gliding textures & manipulated guitars prevail to provide us, the mere listener, with an all enveloping aural hug. Or an audio mug of creamy chocolate with extra chocolaty bits sprinkled on. I’m well taken with the twinkling atmospherics on here. The sheer scope of sound is multi dimensional & very comforting. Track 4 is up there with the very best stuff coming out on Infraction, just gorgeous, suspended ambient bliss with a smooth, worry-free brow. The guitar textures on brief track ‘May day’ could easily prop up a voice such as Richard Hawley’s (this music is a bit better than the somewhat sentimental gush he’s throwing in our face these days) Seven varied and compulsive tunes later, you get the idea this Northerner fella has a passionate understanding of music & knows what buttons to press indeed. Simply divine!

Este EP se filtró hace tiempo, pero este es el ripeo correcto del EP de estudio.

Those grandmasters of the modern Christmas song return with an early-bird festive missive, backed with a seemingly most unseasonal reggae number, "The Coming Of Jah". The A-side makes like a menacing rethink of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" - as if rethought for a Credit Crunch Chrimble, asking rather speculatively as to whether or not all the children will get their presents this year. The floaty backing vocals sail along in a creepy, ethereal fashion, only for lumbering discord to muscle its way into the song for a chorus that's more "Nightmare Before Christmas" than "It's A Wonderful Life". Flip over, and "The Coming Of Jah" is comparatively upbeat, lovingly rendered in a warm dub-style production. This is a lovely, if slightly unsettling addendum to Low's marvelous Christmas mini album, and just the thing to get you in the Yuletide spirit… sort of.

Después de aquel ep de villancicos que sonaba como si las navidades tuvieran una banda sonora decente, editan ahora este 7" que tengo ganas de escuchar.

Album-length split from these two key underground groups, with the KY side conjuring almost Skaters-esque drones from obsessively detailed studio miniatures that feature Jan Anderzen alongside Sami from Es, Roope Eronen, Niko-Matti Ahti (Kiila), Tomas Regan, Markus Maki and Elissa Maattanen. The Sunroof side is absolutely incredible, easily the equal of the previous Sunroof landmark recording on the Mouthus/Double Leopards split, with the opening recording from the 2007 Termite festival featuring Matthew Bower and Mick Flower (Vibracathedral Orchestra) on guitars and Mattin (Billy Bao et al) on computer feedback one of the most mind-blowing and intense single-chord pugilistic rock warps ever nailed to vinyl. Also features a dual guitar recording by the line-up of Bower and Marc Orleans (Sunburned Hand Of The Man) and a solo Bower noise bomb. Totally necessary and very highly recommended.
