Habiendo escuchado lo de Jay-Z un par o tres de veces, me parece claro que algunos beats son bastante potentes. Líricamente está claro que Jigga ya no es lo que era, pero por lo menos no ha sido tan rotundamente vago como Kanye. Es un disco de corporate rap totalmente, con poca profundidad y un interés limitado. Por otro lado, el tipo me sigue cayendo más simpático que Kanye. La pretensión material no me cae tan gorda como la artística. En cualquier caso, estos dos ya hace unos años que no dictan nada del futuro del hip-hop en mi opinión.

Eso es porque eres un Hipster, a mi modo de ver precisamente Kanye es el tio que más está marcando el Hip Hop del futuro, y eso puede gustarte menos o más, pero es lo que hay.

Kanye West cree que puede trasladar lo que ha visto en el Louvre y apenas entiende al hip-hop y crear una obra tan grande como la de Da Vinci cuando en verdad lo único que hace es supervisar a un grupo de gente a la que ha pagado un pastizal y acabar con un collage a veces interesante si lo trozeas, pero en general más bien incoherente. Además, su ego es tan desmesurado que no saca verdadedero partido de todo el talento que paga a precio de oro. Ahoga a sus featurings. El trabajo de algunas de sus colaboraciones lo podría haber hecho mi vecina del segundo. Hay una diferencia sustancial entre eso e intentar sacar lo mejor de cada colaboración para que cuadren en tu proyecto, aunque sea una cosa muy calculada y personal, como en el caso de Kendrick. El único valor de su último disco es el musical, y su creación se basa en lo anteriormente mencionado. El apartado lírico es bochornoso. Podríamos salvarlo diciendo que consigue aunar diferentes sonidos que podrían calificarse de 'progresivos' en un álbum para un público masivo, pero me sigue pareciendo más bien un pastiche inconexo.
Con referencia a lo de hipster, sí, seguro, sólo hace falta ver las reviews de las webs más 'in'.

Preservation is a New York native currently working out of his New Jersey-based Cloud City Studios. His 20-plus year career as a DJ and producer spans an array of projects and releases – notably Mos Def’s The Ecstatic (2009) & True Magic (2006); Wu-Tang Meets the Indie Culture (2005), and Lord Jamar’s The 5% Album (2005).
The summer of 2013 will see two very impressive additions to Preservation’s resume: Yasiin Bey’s & Preservation’s The REcstatic (a re-envisioning of Bey’s 2009’s full-length The Ecstatic); and Preservation’s solo full-length debut, Old Numbers (Mon Dieu Music), which features Yasiin Bey, Jean Grae, Edo G and more.

A los sabios de este hilo, ¿4/5 discos que deba escuchar de este año?. En breve me voy de vacaciones y hay que cargar el ipod. He escuchado el Run the jewels (me ha molado mucho), Kanye West y Tyler, the creator (prrrrrrfffff) y los Dopplegangaz (o algo así), que tb me ha gustado bastante.

los de run the jewels y the doppelgangaz son muy bien. el que acabo de colgar de ka es canela en rama y luego los de young black preachers, ugly heroes, joey bada$$ y knxwledge son muy buena mierda. y si ya quieres que te explote la cabeza, tírate directo al de clipping.
