¿Y qué tal está? ¿Alguien lo ha podido escuchar ya?

Tras cuatro escuchas, se puede decir que la espera ha merecido la pena. Discazo y el ultimo corte que da titulo al álbum, simplemente ensoñador y deslumbrante…Es necesario que estos tipos vengan al primavera....

Sparklehorse announce UK shows

Mark Linkous and co are back soon
Sparklehorse are set to play a string of UK dates in the autumn.

The shows are to support the release of their new album - their first album in five years - on September 24, 'Dreamy For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain'. It will be the follow up to 2001's 'It's A Wonderful Life'.

The band have posted a track from the album 'Don't Take My Sunshine Away' on their Myspace/sparklehorse.com site.

Joder. Ayer precisamente estuve escuchando el Forever Changes un ratito y aún confiaba en que volviese a levantarse (menuda guarrada quedarse con el recuerdo en directo del FIB 2004, por otra parte). Descanse en paz.

Esta fue la crónica que se publicó en su momento en el periódico del festival (tiene un par de frases sobre la muerte que vienen al pelo):

No, no es ninguna broma, porque a los centenares de fans congregados se nos rompió el corazón viendo a Lee totalmente derrumbado por la muerte de su amigo Rick James (el hombre que durante unos años se hizo con el cetro de Marvin Gaye antes de cedérselo a Prince), con quien comparte bastantes paralelismos biográficos. "Lo siento, lo siento mucho, me he enterado hace dos minutos," lloraba Lee mientras intentaba mantenerse en pie. Estaba fuera de sí y su voz era una desgarradora cacofonía, pero era imposible dudar de su palabra. Habló de la muerte y de sus compañeros de generación, y contó cosas terribles: "Mi madre murió hace cuatro años, mientras estaba en la cárcel, pero entonces no pude llorar porque allí no puedes mostrar ningún síntoma de debilidad". Quien no quiso entender se fue, pero fueron muchos los que se quedaronquizá pensando en las palabras de Brian Wilson: "Love and mercy is what you need tonight".

Esto es una puta mierda, qué esperábamos. El Forever Changes es uno de mis discos favoritos de siempre jamás. Recuerdo que cuando lo descubrí estuve dos o tres meses fascinado con ese algo raro que tenían sus canciones, un poso trágico que empujaba a volver a ponerte el mismo disco.

Parece ser que está confirmada la presencia de THE EX en la próxima edición del festival KOSMOPOLIS (festival dedicado al mundo de la literatura), que tendrá lugar en el CCCB de Barcelona entre los días 18 y 22 de Octubre, o al menos eso reza en la web del festival (ver web del CCCB). En la pagina web oficial del grupo holandes todavia no se hacen eco de esta presencia, pero hay que hacer notar que en esa web no está actualizada. naturalmente, no puedo decir todavia si tocaran o que demonios haran.
Creo que me pondre en contacto con Andy y a ver que me dice.

Una auténtica pena. Yo solo pude verle en ese concierto del FIB (las cronicas de la gira de Primavera fueron excepcionales) y yo le entendi. Aguante de primera nota a ultima. No era morbo era autentico hechizo. Ver como un hombre completamente destrozado, borracho y sin ninguna gana de tocar (el rumor fue que le obligaron a subirse) aguanto una hora en el escenario, arropado por una banda que le adoraba. Comentamos en su momento el amigo y yo que lo vimos que era histórico. Y yo lo vi así, en aquel momento de la carpa. Un mes más tarde pude ver ese concierto en la emisión digital que hicieron y evidentemente daba mucha pena, pero os juro que estando alli en la carpa y aguantando hasta el final, me pareció digno de elogio.
A mi me regalaron el Forever Changes…eso es un punto más para añadir al cariño que ya le tengo.

me acuerdo un año en un festival de literatura de barcelona que vino Pati Smith… aparte de leer poesía tambien tuvo tiempo de pillar la guitarra... el problema es que mi mala memoria no me deja recordar el nombre del festival. Pero creo que el festival se hacía en el Liceu, menos la presentación que se hizo en el teatre lliure (de montjuic)... el único problema fue que las poesias eran en inglés... y mira... que te canten en inglés està bien... pero que te lean poesia... pos como que alfinal tanto esfuerzo para entender algo cansa...

bueno, puede ser que si (aunque son dos festivales distintos), pero insisto que no se todavia lo que los holandeses van a hacer. Ademas, en la lista de participantes del festival hay otros musicos.
Cuando sepa algo más, lo comentaré por aqui.
