Nadja - Numbness [Happy Prince, 2009]
drone, doom metal, shoegaze, ambient, experimental
@6y2imqi9:
Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker (guitar, vocals, drums, piano, flute) and Leah Buckareff (bass, vocals, violin) from Toronto, Canada. Their sounds have been called "ambient doom"; music that combines elements of metal, shoegaze, ambient, post-rock, experimental, and neo-classical. They have released numerous albums on such labels as Alien8 Recordings, The End Records, and Conspiracy Records and have toured extensively throughout the world including appearances at noted festivals like Roadburn, FIMAV, and SXSW. "Numbness" is a special collection of tracks, compiled by Nadja themselves choosing "shoegaze-oriented" tracks among their vast previous titles. Most of the tracks were originally released on very limited vinyls or rare compilation albums. Among the 6 tracks, total time of over 70 minutes, there are two vocal-centered tracks which reveals the influence of My Bloody Valentine. The last track "Numb" is an amazing 21 minute drone noise track as if synchronizing dark psychedelia of Mono and Mogwai. A perfect compilation for Nadja beginners to Nadja freaks. Packaged in a special cardboard sleeve in black ink. Just Awesome! NUMBNESS track listing and info: 1) Veil of Disillusion originally released on Shadows Infinitum compilation (Crucial Bliss 2004) 2) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen originally released on The Holiday Masterpieces compilation (Blod Records 2004) 3) Long Dark Twenties (slightly extended 7" version) originally released on 7" (Anthem Records 2008) 4) Alien In My Own Skin unreleased 5) Time Is Our Disease originally released on Infernal Procession… 3-way split with Atavist and Satori (Cold Spring Records 2008) 6) Numb originally released on Base Fluid 'net release (Foreshadow Productions 2007)

1. Exit Risil
2. Breathe
3. Everyone Else's World
4. This Air
5. For Zano
6. Better Run
7. Hers
8. Son of Yucatan
9. To Slow Down
10. Daughter of Yucatan
11. These Kids Will Learn Mantra
12. We Were Ruined Before We Began

Natural Snow Buildings - Daughter of Darkness (2009)

@33q2fccv:
Natural Snow Buildings is a duo from France, consisting of artists Mehdi Ameziane and Solange Gularte. They play music which can be classified as experimental psychedelic folk with drone elements and ambient influences. It's one of these bands that are hard to follow because of the amount of albums they release each year, something typical with noise and drone projects.

Dreamcolour - White Light [cdr 2009]

@1gfwoyvl:
"A blues/folk/soul inspired combination of improvised sessions. Natalie Alyse lends her lovely voice to assorted grooves, Robert Magill adds some death-folk and the rest weave a psychedelic soul."
"Dreamcolour reflects a collective of musicians from Ventura County, California. The concept is to heal and lift the spirits and souls of human beings from all walks of life, with the fiery expression of collective free improvisation. We aim to bring back the trance-inducing vibrations, frequencies and rhythms used by the ancient shamans and spiritual healers of the past, but also to experiment with and incorporate the scientific advances of the present and future, relating music as a direct pathway to the human spirit and as a healing force in the universe."http://sharebee.com/532f9faf -

Bee Mask - No Mutant Enemy [Pizza Night, 2009]
Drone, Experimental, Ambient
@hbin83uk:
If you keep your ears to the ground, you most likely have already gripped his latest LP on Weird Forest, "Hyperbolean Trenchtown". If not, then consider yourself the last to know about Bee Mask. He's been a staple in the midwest/east coast for years now. With a wide array of set-ups and an endless amount of sonic possibilities, it's hard to tell what's next with him. The two sides flow together like one dense piece using heavy mind warping drones and hazey bells that chime in to relieve some of the tension. The tape offers an alternate universe that is neither dark nor light, ugly or beautiful. Neither sounds of love or of hate.
