If you keep your ears to the ground, you most likely have already gripped his latest LP on Weird Forest, "Hyperbolean Trenchtown". If not, then consider yourself the last to know about Bee Mask. He's been a staple in the midwest/east coast for years now. With a wide array of set-ups and an endless amount of sonic possibilities, it's hard to tell what's next with him. The two sides flow together like one dense piece using heavy mind warping drones and hazey bells that chime in to relieve some of the tension. The tape offers an alternate universe that is neither dark nor light, ugly or beautiful. Neither sounds of love or of hate.

Risil is a supergroup and a half, featuring Prefuse 73 (aka Guillermo Herren), Zach Hill (hella), Tyondai Braxton (Battles), John McEntire (Tortoise), Alejandra Deheza (School Of Seven Bells) and Eva Puyuelo Muns (Savath & Savalas). Apparently, the line-up extends beyond this starry assemblage however, and further volumes in the Risil saga shall involve different sets of players. There's plenty to be getting on with here though: fusing in-depth electronic wizardry with the musicianship of artists like Chicago legend McEntire and Hella drummer Zach Hill makes for quite a combo, and although the music here is often freeform and challenging, pieces like 'Better Run' - featuring electronically warped choral layers and deep, bristling production layers - inevitably draw you into their realm of digital psychedelia. There are plenty of highlights: there's the elegiac tonal sculpting and vocal harmonising of 'There Has To Be', the Fennesz-like 'Open Rendering' is exquisite, and the sheer quality of electroacoustic sound processing on 'Oxygen Path' would be enough to win over most audiences, but throw into the bargain an outbreak of explosive polyrhythmic drumming and Risil are really onto a winner.

El próximo domingo 13 de septiembre reanudaremos nuestra programación con gregg kowalsky, quien presentará "tape chants", un trabajo recientemente publicado por el sello kranky.

Las composiciones de Gregg Kowalsky se mueven entre el drone, el ruido i la psicodelia meditativa. Tras la publicación de su álbum de debut, Through the Cardial Window (Kranky), Kowalsky comenzó a trabajar con cintas de cassette, osciladores sinusoidales, retroalimentación de mesas de mezcla, micros de contacto, etc... El resultado fue una serie de piezas, Tape Chants, que exploran la acústica de los espacios donde se producen las actuaciones mediante el uso de múltiples reproductores de cassette como sistema de amplificación y espacialización. La primera encarnación de Tape Chants (Tape Chants a Million) fue publicada en el 2007 por el sello Rootstrata.
Las presentaciones en directo de Tape Chants arrancan con la distribución de 6 a 10 reproductores de cassette alrededor del espacio de la actuación y con el ajuste del volúmen relativo de cada reproductor de cinta: Gregg camina por el espacio escuchando la mezcla global y ajustando lentamente cada reproductor para crear en directo una mezcla envolvente con un decidido carácter "lo-fi" o de "baja fidelidad". El formato de la actuación resultante es un híbrido entre instalación sonora y performance.

Gracias Tra-la-la es que hoy he dado con esa misma página y es por eso que me han entrado las ansías, especialmente en escuchar el preview del corte "tonight is the last night" y algunos videos que he visto en youtube, que me ha dejado con ganas de más, de todos modos se agradece y así complementamos la info.
Por si alguien no lo conoce con su alías "The Caretaker" ha sacado cosas muy interesantes, el año pasado si ir más lejos.

yo no lo conozco pero sí que he visto otros referentes al buscarlo. le pegaré una escucha mañana, que ahora estoy ensimismado con el de fuck buttons y no quiero pausarlo. de todos modos no soy muy droner kebab yo que digamos.

jajaja, si, mejor sigue con el de Fuck Buttons, que el contraste sería bastante raro.

@1h3a2r2t:I'm fairly sure Simon Scott is a name that will be familiar to many of you as a member of The Charlottes, Slowdive, Televise etc. Well he has a spankingly delicious solo CD called 'Navigare' out on Miasmah and what a fine specimen it is. Applying all the haze of his shoegaze history to moving and vivid experimental ambient music really works a treat. He creates an ultra dreamy state of consciousness before 'Flood In' kicks in with it's lush repetitive beat that carries the layers of decaying crackles. Some of the heavier sounds give me the feeling of being a drop of water traveling through the weather system. Some of the dissolving textures really hit the spot. This is the type of stuff I really enjoy after a hard days work, I put the headphone on while I'm on the bus making my journey home and for just under an hour I'm no longer on the bus but in a different world completely. To throw a spanner in the works the CD and LP both have different final tracks on them.
