10th anniversary Green Man Festival

Feist Feist’s Grammy-nominated 2007 solo breakthrough The Reminder sold over a million copies worldwide, while last year’s superb follow-up Metals was declared the best album of 2011 by The New York Times.

The Walkmen Much-loved New York indie band, coincidentally celebrating their 10th anniversary this month, whose much-anticipated new album is produced by Phil Ek (The Shins, Modest Mouse, Fleet Foxes) and due out in summer 2012.

The Felice Brothers US folk-rock/country band founded by siblings Ian and James Felice. Last year’s inspired Celebration, Florida album added swirling ‘80s synths and electronic drums to their bittersweet, barroom blues Americana.

Yann Tiersen** French songwriter/composer whose work featured in 2001 film Amelie, and has collaborated with Jane Birkin, Neil Hannon and Tindersticks.

Jonathan Richman** Influential founder of proto-punks The Modern Lovers, whose songs have been covered by The Sex Pistols, David Bowie and Iggy Pop.
Junior Boys Canadian electronic indie duo who marry post punk, disco, techno, R’n’B and electronica with soul, dubstep, house and traces of world music.
Damien Jurado Lo-fi Seattle singer-songwriter whose new album Maraqopa, released on Secretly Canadian next month, is sure to be one of the gems of 2012.

Pinta de puta madre, eso si, aprovecho para cagarme en los lumbreras que decidieron programar en Sonar la misma semana que el Azkena o a la inversa.

por si alguien anda por EE.UU a finales de mayo/principios de julio, y al hilo de lo que comentaba ayer en el hilo del PS2012: mañana se anuncia oficialmente el cartel del Sasquatch (parece que con Bon Iver, Spiritualized, Beirut, St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey, Girl Talk y The Shins, entre otros) y el día 14 el del Bonnaroo, parece que con Radiohead y Red Hot Chili Peppers como cabezas de cartel.

Me sorprende ver a Nils Frahm en letras grandes (aunque sea el último) y siempre hace gracia ver grupos catalanes en carteles de fuera…

Mola el festi ese. Un montonazo de grupos inventados y artistas como Grimes, Com Truise, Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Perfume Genius, Trust… un miniprimavera, vaya.
Aprovecho desde aquí para mostrar mi decepción por no ver a mis queridísimos Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains en el cartel del Primavera. Si tienen un directo brutal!! A ver si hay suerte y al menos los coláis en Oporto!

Son unos hipsters que tienen un tema que suena bastante en la radio. No el forero.

Estoy planteandome visitar Oporto a principios de marzo y he visto que el 2 y 3 de ese mes hay el Mexefest. Por lo poco que he leido hasta ahora entiendo que es una especie de Primavera Club. ¿Alguien me puede dar un poco más de información al respecto? ¿Las salas están bien? ¿Es la primera vez que se celebra? (creo haberme enterado de que en diciembre se hizo una edición en Lisboa y que el año pasado tenía otro nombre, ¿puede ser?)

Y cuanto al cartel, ¿algunas recomendaciones más allá de mi querida St Vincent, Twin Shadow, Cass McCombs o Josh Rouse? Esas perlas pequeñas, ya sabéis… Sería mi primera vez en Oporto, así que toda ayuda es bienvenida.

no hombre, Nate Ruess, el cantante de los extintos The Format, que lo formó con uno de Anathallo y otro de Steel Train. Pop opereta de calidad, vaya, a mi me gustó bastante el disco. Parece que acaba de salir la continuación de aquel, voy a buscarlo. Be calm fue uno de mis temazos en 2009, temazal.
