Tawny Peaks is a five piece emo/indie rock/math rock band from Montclair, New Jersey who formed in 2011. Tawny Peaks get their name from a porn star, so you know right off the bat that the band has a great sense of humor and isn't afraid of being overly PC. Anyway, this eight song LP, released on June 26th 2012 is the band's second release to date, which serves as a great follow-up to their Harris Harris Harris EP, which was released in July of 2011. Musically, Tawny Peaks draw their influnces from a variety of sources including Mineral, Make/Believe, Cap N Jazz, and other classic emo/indie rock bands. Overall, Tawny Peaks debut LP is catchy, mathy, and features great dual male/female vocals. Overall, this LP is amazing and Tawny Peaks is required listening for fans of Bridge And Tunnel, Laurtec, Algernon Cadwallader, and Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate).

Dark Horses are a group of slow and seductive shoe-gazers with a plethora of pedals and reverb to make your skull vibrate and teeth chatter.

Though they have made too much of an effort to look the part, it is clear that they are determined to fully immerse themselves in the essence of their sound, and they do it with a little tongue in cheek. ‘We look good so you can hear our music’ they say and 'We wear black because Rock’n’Roll is dead.'

Their sound references all of the typically transcendental, psych-noise saturated bands including the likes of Kraftwerk, Spacemen 3, Radiohead, 'and for spiritual courage John Lee Hooker and Billie Holiday are never far away' says group member, Lisa.
