Kat Epple & Bob Stohl - Sanctus Spiritus (2013)

@3dnzt4oe:
Another precious find from Andy Votel’s impeccable Dead-Cert imprint, Kat Epple & Bob Stohl made music for Carl Sagan, composed sound pieces for Planetariums and scored nature documentaries in the early 80’s. Operating in Florida from 1978 until Bob’s untimely passing in 1989 at the age of 34, the husband/wife duo were among the first to blend synthesisers and acoustic instrumentation in a home studio equipped with a variety of early synths and instruments.

lx sweat / city of sweat (not not fun, 2013)

@1nnlc8j8:
German steamroom wrecking crew LX Sweat returns from a winter of festival dates and self-symbiosis to lay out an impressively realized full-length debut of voidist club fantasia, equal parts Screw bootlegs, slow-jack synth freestyle, and degraded phaser wash. City Of Sweat spirals through a judgement night of a weird codeined lust, luxury hallucinations, overdosed syrup rituals, and long blurry nights stumbling home through alleys in the rain. Like last year’s Sweat Sweat Sweat CS, his new LP siphons certain R&B and Memphis swap-meet structures but stretches them so they sprawl and sag and slide in strange moments, giving the songs a mesmerizing melting quality, like hearing overheated vinyl dissolving into the needle. An entrancing numbed out suite of pleasure-faded electronics by a rare head. Mastered by Prairie Cat. Black vinyl LPs in jackets by L.A. nightstalker Spencer Longo. Edition of 480.

James Ferraro retoma viejas sendas

Wakesleep
Not 2 Far Away
-Ailanthus Recordings, 2013-

@pcli3ikl:One of the foremost vaporwave artists is the prolific Will Burnett a.k.a INTERNET CLUB, who has now evolved into Wakesleep. A few weeks ago, Wakesleep released his first album, and boy does it ever make this question of taste and timbre interesting. Like many vaporwave records, not 2 far away relies heavily on repetition, but in this case, the sound sources and timbres are not always readily apparent. It seems that Burnett often takes the smallest sample possible and lets it repeat/warp into oblivion. As a result, the audio becomes completely removed from its original context and these once saccharine sounds become rather austere, sometimes even abrasive. Couple that with some truly startling uses of space and the results sound more like Jim O’Rourke or Toshimaru Nakamura than Macintosh Plus, proving that even the most “outdated” sounds have the potential to jar a listener when slightly altered.

Down to the Silver Sea
Gecophonic -2013-

@vcp5hc84:
Exclusive material from Pye Corner Audio (Howling Moss), Jon Brooks, Moon Wiring Club, Time Attendant and more, housed in a typically gorgeous Gecophonic sleeve with printed inner* Moon Wiring Club's Gecophonic label gathers its gang of eldritch pals - Jon Brooks, Pye Corner Audio, Sarah Angliss, Time Attendant - for a festive jaunt 'Down To The Silver Sea'. Trippier than necking a thermos of mushie tea with Bridlington gypsies, it's a lucidly eloquent soundtrack to the ephemeral English summer and all its wonders… "whether flower pressing in the garden, hallucinating in the summerhouse, fainting inside stifling sites of historical interest… or even sea-cruise thalassophobia complications." Moon Wiring Club crops up twice, opening up with his collaged vignette, 'The Summer Door' and also offering the hazy boom bap of 'Voyages De Plaisir', whilst Pye Corner Audio comes thrice with the bit-crushed bump of 'June Buggy', the lush soundscape of 'Pleasant Stroll', and the barnacled ambience of 'Underneath The Pier', all imagined in his Howling Moss guise. The gang's newest member, Sarah Angliss appears ahead of her Ghost Box debut with some of the most affectively creepy parts, from the layered field recordings and windchimes of 'Hello Sunshine' to the psilocybic swirl and plangent harpsichord of 'Summer's Lease' leaving the most subtle stain on your candy-flossed bonce, Time Attendant's 'Crooked Harbour', 'Holiday Holograph' and 'Lapping It Up At Night' sound like febrile Chris Watson documents, while Jon Brooks hugely impresses with the sun-dazed dream-bop of 'Morgane' as Knö. Proper good this.

Woo - It's Cosy Inside (1989)

@33ksbwfv:
'It's Cosy Inside', released in 1989, qualifies as some of the most electronic organic music ever made. Only Mark and Clive Ives, as Woo, seem to be able to effortlessly combine elements of English Folk Music, Jazz, Electronic Experimentalism, bits of playful easy listening, and now in this latest release, an occasional electronic reggae shuffle.
